Where To Train Your Dog
Dog Ownership
Don't know where to train your dog? So you got all of your stuff ready to begin training your pet (dog to be exact, this isn’t a lizard training course). Where should you train your dog and does it really matter where you go about doing it? The results and answers may surprise but in fact, it does matter where you train your dog, at least at the start of the process. Training your pet in an area that is somewhat familiar to it will be beneficial. It will lessen the curiosity factor and also in having more focus and attention directed towards you, which is what you are seeking here.
When you begin training, do it in a quiet place and do it with one dog at a time. A few owners have tried to train multiple dogs at the same and this is bad for a number of reasons. First, you can’t tell what dog is having a problem with what behavior because they are all yapping and barking to each other and it’s like trying to settle the kids down when you are taking them to the county fair or amusement park. It just isn’t going to work.
So right then, we train one dog in a quiet area that is familiar to the pooch, got it? Ok good, now let us continue on with other important things to remember. If you have your own property, this will certainly help however there are those of you that live in an apartment and thus do not have the ability to train in private and at your own leisure. This is why it is better to have a smaller dog in an apartment but that is just me. You could try a small dog inside your apartment but that doesn’t work very well for a Mastiff. Nevertheless, what else is there to know?
If you do not have your own yard to train in, try and take your dog to a place that is familiar to it. Is there a park you always take your dog, does it know one particular portion of it better than the rest? Do your training there. You may have distractions such as kids playing in the playground or other people and their dogs (not to mention training in public) but if these things don’t bother you, then give it a try. It will be a lot harder for your dog at first but as time passes, these distractions will be invaluable in your training. It will allow you to test the dog if it becomes distracted at all when you give it a command.
Making sure your dog obeys you is a very important step in dog ownership. Why is it an important step? If you have a dog that will not obey you, you cannot rely on it, nor can you count on it to perform in situations where you wish it would. So start up that training and make sure your pooch will listen to you.
