Special Dog Traits

Dogs That Need a Constant Companion

There is nothing better than knowing your animal loves you and will do anything for you. For some owners though, that is not the case and sadly, they do not know how to control the animal’s behavior or temperament. Each pet has its own special dog traits. Dogs have many traits such of which are a little more loveable than others, but we must learn to live with them all. Some of the meanest looking mutts out there are actually some of the most loyal and faithful dogs to own. No matter your scenario is, learning to love the traits is something that will go a long way with dog ownership.

bad behavior for good.

There are some dogs that need a constant companion and then there are those dogs that want their independence. If your dog is becoming hard to train, or already is hard to train, it most likely has this characteristic. Even a puppy or dog that is extremely determined, will give you a run for your money. Now, millions of dogs own some form of this trait, but it is the ones that have a higher amount of independence, or stubbornness, that are hard to train. In time, anything is possible though.

A dog that would tend to show some sort of trait of independence would be those breeds that like to take charge, an Akita for example. They like to control the pack, be the leader, that sort of thing. Your dog may show some form of subtle signs that it is leading into trouble. Some of these signs include turning away when you are trying to correct it, not liking to be groomed or brushed, wanting to be alone a lot, and not enjoying it when people pet it.

Do any of these things ring a bell with your pet? One of the best ways you can help curve the problem and cope with your dog is to use praise when training it. This technique has worked for hundreds of years and the dog will love to know that it is being rewarded for something it did. It’s a great ego boost and it works very well, almost all of the time. You can even go the extra mile and add praise with a new treat, a toy, something to get the dog to want to obey you more often. Does that make sense?

Take heart in the way you train your animal because it may come back to haunt you one day. Always exercise caution and patience when training your pooch because they are trying to do the best they can with the knowledge that they have learned, from you I might add. The dog can only do so much and if it isn’t doing something you want it to, that is probably because it hasn’t learned how to do that yet. -- Training Multiple Dogs
