Eyes Of A Dog
Dog With Blue Eyes
Eyes of a dog mean a great deal. A person’s eyes have been said to be the windows to their heart and soul. While the eyes may be a window to their heart, I think it gives a lot more information than that, especially in the animal kingdom. I have touched upon the eyes and how they relate to dog training before, but this lesson is going to go a little deeper into what you can do to help yourself with training your dog to be the best that it can be.
Dog Not Behaving?
Put an end to your dog's
bad behavior for good.
There is nothing like some good strong verbal communication when it comes to giving a command. Have you ever seen a dog owner try and give a command to their pooch but in a weak voice? It looks really bad and is almost laughable. The dog is not going to take you seriously. Think of how much more prudent it would be to give a command in a loud strong voice and also have an extra added touch of leadership by using your eyes? When you command your dog, you have to learn how to utilize the power of sight and what it can do for your training methods.
The reason eyes work so well is that they are connected simultaneously with the millions of thoughts shooting through our brain. If we are really angry, yet try to show the dog we are happy, it is not going to work. Somehow and someway, the eyes show our true feelings. It may be the way our eyelids move to show less or more of the eyeball itself, but no matter what the cause, you need to work on eye movements. So what kind of movements should you be doing when training your dog?
When giving praise and reward, be sure to look at your dog and give a smile. You will feel happy about yourself and your true feelings will come rushing through your eyes. Dogs have a very keen sense of picking up subtle things which humans do not. This will work to your advantage when doing this. Also, be sure to be strict about your movements. If you lazily make eye contact or allow your dog to stare you down it isn’t going to help you but rather hurt you.
If there is one thing you should remember when using your eyes for training purposes is that it is always best to be a little more serious than not (except when giving praise of course). Your dog is not going to be offended and it isn’t going to hold a grudge against you like some people may think. The animal is very adaptable to training and doesn’t take insults the way a human does, although you shouldn’t be insulting your dog. With due diligence and time, you will be able to train your dog to do things just on the command of using your eye. It doesn't matter if you have a dog with blue eyes or a dog with brown eyes, eyes are a key to success.-- Body Language
