Put an end to your dog's
bad behavior for good.

We can try a couple of things. The first of them being the praise technique. Try to remove the object from the area of the dog, be it the bone or what have you. Next, if the puppy starts to growl correct it on the spot. There is no sense in trying to correct a mistake the dog made, an hour after it happened. The dog will not be able to put the two together. You can also choose to use some sort of training equipment, such as a collar. Either of these will help you in your quest to properly train your puppy.

Dogs will not always act like you want them to act. It is just a fact of life and we have to deal with it. That doesn't mean however, that we just give up all hope. We train our pets to act in a manner that is socially acceptable to the family and with the outside world. It takes time and patience, but you will get there. Do not feel angry and upset when your training does not work out the first week. No one learns overnight, especially animals.

When you have a problem with behavior, try to fix it during the act. There is no sense in trying to correct things hours later. It never works out that way. Keep in mind that you must always maintain a leadership position with your puppy. You must let the puppy know that you are the leader of the house, of the pack.

Dogs do not view their bad behavior as being bad. Animals do not know right from wrong. They simply act on internal instincts and it is up to us, to shape those instincts into acceptable actions; actions which we view as good or bad. With this in mind, you should go a long way in properly training your dog aggression. Also, does your dog have any sort of tendency to become aggressive with its toys? Ever wondered why my dog is protecting its bone so much?

Dogs do not like to be left alone. A dog is a social animal by nature and it always will be. They like to be in the midst of action, of the daily routine. So please make sure that you keep your end of the bargain when buying a puppy and help it grow mentally and physically. If you cannot be at home for a large portion of the day, perhaps it is better if you got another animal or even a second dog to keep your pet company. -- Dog Aggression Against Children
